چکیده

A rigorous convergence theory for Galerkin methods for a model Helmholtz problem in Rd, d ∈ {1, 2, 3} is presented. General conditions on the approximation properties of the approximation space are stated that ensure quasi-optimality of the method. As an application of the general theory, a full error analysis of the classical hp-version of the finite element method (hp-FEM) is presented for the model problem where the dependence on the mesh width h, the approximation order p, and the wave number k is given explicitly. In particular, it is shown that quasi-optimality is obtained under the conditions that kh/p is sufficiently small and the polynomial degree p is at least O(log k).

Application of Decoupled Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method to Solve Eigenvalue Helmholtz Problems (Research Note)

A novel element with arbitrary domain shape by using decoupled scaled boundary finite element (DSBFEM) is proposed for eigenvalue analysis of 2D vibrating rods with different boundary conditions. Within the proposed element scheme, the mode shapes of vibrating rods with variable boundary conditions are modelled and results are plotted. All possible conditions for the rods ends are incorporated ...

A Collocation Method with Modified Equilibrium on Line Method for Imposition of Neumann and Robin Boundary Conditions in Acoustics (TECHNICAL NOTE)

A collocation method with the modified equilibrium on line method (ELM) forimposition of Neumann and Robin boundary conditions is presented for solving the two-dimensionalacoustical problems. In the modified ELM, the governing equations are integrated over the lines onthe Neumann (Robin) boundary instead of the Neumann (Robin) boundary condition equations. Inother words, integration domains are...

Crank-nicolson Finite Element Discretizations for a 2d Linear Schrödinger-type Equation Posed in a Noncylindrical Domain

Motivated by the paraxial narrow–angle approximation of the Helmholtz equation in domains of variable topography that appears as an important application in Underwater Acoustics, we analyze a general Schrödinger-type equation posed on two-dimensional variable domains with mixed boundary conditions. The resulting initialand boundary-value problem is transformed into an equivalent one posed on a ...

Helmholtz Equation with Artificial Boundary Conditions in a Two-Dimensional Waveguide

We consider a time-harmonic acoustic wave propagation problem in a two dimensional water waveguide confined between a horizontal surface and a locally varying bottom. We formulate a model based on the Helmholtz equation coupled with nonlocal Dirichlet-to-Neumann boundary conditions imposed on two artificial boundaries. We establish the well-posedness of the associated variational problem, under...
